UPDATE: Del Mar WSS was Top Colt (in a large group of babies) at his Hanoverian inspection on 10/2!

Here is how Celle describes sire Dubarry: “With his jet black coat and splendid type, this son of Don Frederico knows how to show himself in a good light. Due to his enormous freedom of shoulder movement, and the power in his hindquarters, this young talent doesn’t know any movement limits. He demonstrated thee abilities during his 1st public presentations, and showed himself to be a very rideable and motivated athlete. Dubarry’s dam, Ribana (Rubinstein I) perfectly ensures the rideability as well as the willingness to perform, and makes Dubarry the modern young sire of the future.” Standing 17.1 and jet black, Dubarry turns heads even before viewers see his phenomenal gaits. Dubarry is quiet and calm under saddle, with an unbeatable work ethic.

Fantasia is by Fürstenreich, whose first crop of foals amazed. He is the sire of several Champion Foals at regional and provincial breed shows and championships. They all dazzled with their outstanding type and excellent movements. On several occasions, his offspring where sold at foal auctions in North Germany, achieving top knock down prices. A Fürstenreich filly became British National Champion in the 3-year old mare division. Fantasia was a foal of distinction at her inspection.

Del Mar is out of the mare Fantasia MSH, who has been a stellar producer: her two previous foals (also by Dubarry) are phenomenal – her first was recognized as a gold medal foal at his foal inspection (a huge honor for me) and tied for 3rd in the US at his yearling futurity, winning a little money for his owner. The second full brother just took first place in his yearling FEH class in Spokane, WA, and is headed down to Paso Robles for championships at the end of October! Both of those full brothers live at home with ammy owners and are friendly, quick learners. Although the mare’s main career is as a broodmare, I have ridden her and found her to be light and sensitive, with zero spook, elastic movement, and a desire to please.

I expect Del Mar to mature quite tall and elegant, on the refined side, leggy. His 2-year-old brother is 16.3 and his yearling brother is almost 16hh. Both brothers pictured.
